Comedienne Ellen Degeneres has made Christmas time more cheerful for one out-of-work fan – by donating $10,000 and a new car to help her struggling family through the holiday season.

Single mother Rozina Pijuan wrote to the talk show host, admitting she has struggled to take care of her two young sons since losing her job during the worldwide credit crunch.

Degeneres then invited the 26-year-old Bronx, New York mom onto her show, so she could hand over the money, a GMC Terrain SUV, and a year’s worth of subway tickets, in an episode set to air on Wednesday.

Degeneres’ donation is part of a month-long charity giveaway.
