A scholarship in honor of the late Patrick Swayze has been launched by an American riding institution.
The Dirty Dancing star, along with his wife Lisa Niemi, was an enthusiastic equestrian prior to his death in September, and officials at the Arabian Horse Foundation have established a program to remember the actor.
The scholarship will be awarded each spring to a youngster involved with Arabian horses who seeks a performing arts career.
Foundation President Larry Kinneer says it honors Swayze for his career and the couple’s “love of the Arabian breed and contributions over the years to AHA youth programs.”
