Conan O’Brien might have a job

Conan O’Brien may or may not have found a new late night home on the Fox network . There have been no talks as of yet and the move all depends on whether it makes financial sense for the network who hasn’t had a late-night show since The Chevy Chase Show crashed and burned after just a few weeks in 1993.
NEW YORK (AP) — Preliminary Nielsen ratings suggest that Conan O’Brien won a hefty audience for his final hour hosting “The Tonight Show.” O’Brien scored a 7.0 rating for his farewell appearance on NBC Friday, compared to a 2.5 rating for CBS’ ” Late Show with David Letterman ” and, on ABC, a 2.8 for “Nightline” followed by 1.3 for ” Jimmy Kimmel Live! ” These early figures, which reflect viewership in roughly 70 percent of the country, can’t be reliably translated into audience numbers. An accurate viewer count is expected later this week
VIENNA (AP) — A limelight-loving Austrian says he’s taking Lindsay Lohan to the famous Vienna Opera Ball next month. Richard Lugner, a quirky 77-year-old entrepreneur known for his young girlfriends and appearance on reality TV, invites a different female star to the flashy event each year and keeps local media in suspense for weeks before divulging his pick.

TIMMINS, Ontario (AP) — Shania Twain carried the Olympic torch the final 400 yards into Hollinger Park, cheered on by thousands of parka-clad fans who turned out in arctic conditions to see the hometown hero in person Friday night. After making her final turn toward the stage, Twain paused, held the torch aloft in her mittened left hand, and waved to the crowd. The country star then bounded the final few yards onto the stage, where she lit the Olympic cauldron.
